The satire is strong in this one. Brilliant. :)
Fantasy novels can indeed be a chore in this respect. I really couldn't care less about how many mana points it takes to slay a storm troll, or about the minutiae of dwarf metallurgy, or the finer points that distinguish one elf culture from another, etc, etc. But I do like fantasy stories with universally relatable themes where the worldbuilding is merely background rather than skull-implodingly tedious foreground.
