The striving for timelessness thing is an interesting egomaniacal detour for all writers. Having concrete goals is one thing (even getting into the Vatican Library) but timelessness is another matter. I have come to the conclusion that is one hundred percent out of my hands, and therefore I do all I can not to think about it.

On the other hand, I completely agree that all online writing should be considered disposable. If any of my online mutterings are really that valuable, I (and indeed all writers here) ought to compile them into volumes of essays and at the very least self-publish them. But my fiction remains the priority on the publishing front. If I'm going to be remembered at all, I suspect it will be for that, rather than for my cinematic blitherings (perhaps those who knew me well will remember that, but once I'm beyond living memory, that's it.). :)
