There are not words adequate to express the rage I feel about the likes of Owen Jones, and the absolutely disgraceful conduct of the BBC and their flagrant bias by only reporting now on these atrocities, as you say here.
Like you, I knew about these rapes, mutilations, and killings weeks ago.
Like you, I was horrified beyond my ability to express to see denial coming from some people I'd previously considered respected colleagues, or even friends.
It is truly vile to see this kind of denial and - let's call it what it is: anti-Semitism - from people I had previously thought were kind and reasonable human beings. But the situation in Israel is a litmus test that always shows up the true colours of hypocrisy.
I have seen countless comments here (and elsewhere online) in the very same spirit of Holocaust denial, claiming these atrocities didn't happen. Words fail me at how apparently sensible people can deny this (like you, I am also in touch with friends in Israel whose lives were caught up in this horror).
I equally horrified by those who get their history from TwitTok, and by so-called "liberals" and "feminists" defending Hamas's actions, even rape (although they also say the rapes didn't happen - #believeallwomen unless they're Jewish, apparently, as I believe you said in a previous article). I'm equally appalled by the support shown to Hamas by some in LGBTQ activitist groups. I can only shake my head and suggest they try living under Hamas and see how long they last. This willful ignorance enrages me to the very core of my bones.
None of this means Israel is perfect, or that the lives of innocents lost in Gaza isn't a tragedy. But the silence concerning these horrible rapes and murders has been bone chilling. What exactly is Israel supposed to do? Lie there and take it? They should not have to tolerate this inhuman death cult on their doorstep a second longer. Hamas needs to be as extinct as Nazi Germany.
Sorry - a very lengthy comment I know - but good for you for saying all of this. Nothing but 100 percent agreement from me.
