There are not words to adequately convey how much I adore The Remains of the Day. Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson are simply sublime and have never been better, in my not remotely humble opinion. I'll never forget seeing this at the cinema during the original release. It was an emotional slow-burn that crept up on me, getting under my skin and leaving me devastated. Months went by, and I still couldn't stop thinking about it. What's more, for highly personal reasons I won't get into here, it's a film that changed my life. I love it so much. The novel is great too, by the way (there are some key differences). :)
