They expanded the Best Picture category a few years ago. Or rather, restored it to what it used to be (check out the ten-strong Best Picture line-up for 1939 - stuffed with classics including Goodbye Mr Chips, Stagecoach, Gone with the Wind, Mr Smith Goes to Washington, The Wizard of Oz, Ninotchka, etc).
