They ought to be banned here too these days, as they stopped using Cadbury's dairy milk chocolate and now use cheap US crap instead (which tastes vile by comparison). This is one of the many recent horrors inflicted on Cadbury - a once great British institution acquired by an American company in a hostile takeover.
One of my Facebook rants on the subject from early 2016:
Just heard that Cadbury are opening a "Creme Egg cafe" in London, with all manner of Creme Egg related chololatey items on the menu.
Cadbury must think the people of the UK are really bloody stupid if they expect us to fall for this stunt. The fact remains that Cadbury has deteriorated ever since the hostile takeover by American company Mondolez International (who of course initially insisted that they would not tinker with any recipes). The Creme Egg scandal - whereby the money grabbing gits have changed the recipe in the dairy milk shell to some godforsaken US variant - was the absolute last straw. It is, unquestionably, a sign of the coming apocalypse.
Cadbury have since reported a £6 million slump in Creme Egg sales, because UK customers have rightly decided to vote with their feet on this issue (I did not consume a single Creme Egg last year). You cannot screw with a recipe that is part and parcel of British culture and what was a splendid January to April-ish annual treat.
Yet those bastards at Cadbury, and their monumentally arrogant spokespeople, continue to refuse to acknowledge what they have done. Instead they witter on with all manner of self-important and inconsequential babble about the size not changing, about the product never having been called "Dairy Milk Creme Egg" so they have a right to piss around with the recipe, etc, etc. They continue to refuse to listen to the consumer.
So Cadbury bigwigs, we, the people of the UK, stick up a heartfelt two fingered salute to your "Creme Egg Cafe". Just change the bloody recipe back to what it was.
