This article is fairly spot-on in its observations (I'm a Brit). We are very resistant to political correctness and yes, no subject matter is off limits, provided you are funny. For centuries, we have a long and proud tradition of mocking our politicians, for instance, with satirical cartoons and publications like Punch or Private Eye. Perhaps this is why some more right wing Americans took offence at things like the "Trump balloon" when he visited the UK.
