This bill is an abomination and needs to be defeated, just as the original working of the religious hatred bill and the ID cards bill had to be defeated under New Labour (and thank God they were). Under this law, as you rightly point out, because I am Jewish (by descent, via my maternal grandmother), I could claim Israeli citizenship and would therefore technically be vulnerable, despite the fact that I have lived my entire life in this country. Astonishing and frightening what could be done with such a bill in the wrong hands.
