This is a highly amusing read.

There are a Mount Everest of script problems in Titanic, no question. The weird thing is I still find it satisfying and very much enjoy the film as a blunt instrument built from raw directorial ambition. The romance is one-dimensional but still tugs heartstrings. The disaster movie stuff is spectacularly rendered, despite dodgy inherently pro-IRA subtext (remember, this is before 9/11 - I can't see such subtext flying today).
