This is a superb deep-dive into a notorious flop. Personally I've never cared for the Lynch Dune in any version (including the various fan edits) as there are fundamental screenplay problems that no amount of posthumous tinkering can cure. The new Villeneuve version is far better (as is the novel, obviously). But the Lynch take remains a fascinating failure and the only Lynch film I consider to have failed (I'm a big fan of his other work).
