This is a well-written piece, but I don't agree with you. At at no point during my (many) viewings of Finding Nemo have I ever thought Coral was mean to Marlin or hates him. It's just banter.

The Coral death scene is in the long tradition of Disney death trauma which goes back to The Lion King, Bambi, and so on. It's a strong dramatic starting point for the film, and I don't think there is any agenda behind it at all.

I'm not sure I buy the idea of The Incredibles as white supremacist film either, but I've yet to read your argument on that one. I did read your piece on Up, which I think has some interesting points. I love the film, especially the opening, but logically I can't see why they couldn't have made the trip to South America earlier, whilst Ellie was alive, especially if they didn't have children and all the expenses that ensue from that. :)
