This is an absolutely first-rate summary full of vital advice. I particularly like your point about learning structure. It really is the sign of an amateur when they talk about wanting break rules, without having first understood the rules they claim they want to break. As Robert McKee says, breaking rules should only happen for one reason: To replace them with something better.
