This is my method too. I won't start planning any novel unless I first have an ending that blows me away.

I really couldn't give an airborne fornication what method writers use, as long as the result is a good book. But in contrast to what you've written here, as a control freak plotter I get mightily pissed off when certain forums claim plotters lack spontaneity and are somehow less creative. In fact, it pisses me off so much that I wrote this in response. :)
