This is so important. We need to draw our own boundaries.
As you know, I grew up among evangelical Christians. I'll never forget the day when, during a prayer meeting where the leader wanted us to hold hands, I refused. I was done with participating in cringy things I felt uncomfortable with, and also saw as entirely separate from attempts to converse with the Almighty. The entire group bore down on me in disapproval, claiming holding hands was a statement of unity, but I steadfastly refused, stating that I could be united in agreement with their prayers, without sweaty hand-holding. Nobody messed with me after that (and indeed, one or two people followed my example).
