This kind of thing drives me mad.

I remember opening a book that began with a “strong female character” (in this case, a naked badass warrior princess) beating ten bells out of a squad of assassins. I didn’t care, of course, because I hadn’t connected with anyone. It was all so shallow and meaningless, and I stopped reading.

This kind of thing drives me mad. No one give an airborne fornication about this stuff without a protagonist with whom the reader can connect.
