This makes me sad. I suppose we have very different personalities, but I was loud and proud about my love for Star Wars (as well as all things cinematic in general).

Examples:

I remember one boorish parent telling me Star Wars would be forgotten in a few years time. This was about 1984, or thereabouts. I told them they'd be proved wrong and they laughed at me. I would love to meet them again now and remind them of this conversation.

A girl in my year (who I rather fancied) once told me, around the age of 10 or 11, that I would soon grow out of Star Wars, and that when I was 18, I'd be more interested in things like A-Levels, and where I was going to university. Wrong again. My obsession with Star Wars continued all through that period of my life.

Anyway, you get the idea I'm sure. :)
