Three points:

1) An excellent essay.

2) Splash is one of my favourite films, and I've always absolutely loved it.

3) Don't watch it on Disney+. Censorial prudish twits have airbrushed some of the nudity (they've also tinkered with some either titles in an equally horrid display of underhand Orwellian posthumous censorship, but that's another axe to grind - and that's yet another reason why I insist on hard copies of all the films in my collection). :)
