To be clear: I do agree with your general point. Hollywood in general has become far too creatively timid (with a few noble exceptions like Jordan Peele, Denis Villeneuve, and Christopher Nolan).
To the specific issue of Disney: The ghastly trend of because-we-can creatively redundant live action remakes of animated films deeply depresses me. If you're going to remake a beloved tale, at least put a radically different spin on it. Example: Guillermo Del Toro's beautiful and deeply personal stop-motion Pinocchio. Simply rehashing visual ideas, songs, etc from earlier animated takes is a deeply depressing exercise in cynical marketing manipulation. It drives me nuts, and now this plague has spread to other studios (see for example the upcoming utterly superfluous live action remake of How to Train Your Dragon).
