Two things to say to this: 1) In no way can any of the Star Wars films be considered "cult", for reasons I get into here (ie they are massively popular mainstream hits).

2) You started with Episode I? Seriously? The worst possible place to start! Please, I beg you to watch the original Star Wars (1977 - no one in my generation calls it "A New Hope") and the rest of the original trilogy (The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi). It breaks my heart that the travesty that was Episode I was your first encounter with the series.
