Very true. Remember the nauseatingly schmaltzy Love Story, from 1970 (with Ryan O'Neal)? I love how O'Neal/Bogdanovitch took the piss out of the "Love means never having to say you're sorry" line in What's Up Doc? when Barbara Streisand says it, and he replies: "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard." I love What's Up Doc? So funny.
