Wanting to entertain people is a vocational compulsion I feel too, so I very much relate to what you are saying. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing you are responsible for bringing excitement, thrills, laughs, scares, and sometimes cathartic tears to someone who really needed that experience. When I read reviews of my novels online, and see someone enjoyed them for those reasons, it never fails to bring a smile to my face.
