Well, as I have said many times, other opinions are available. I don't much care what Peter Hitchens thinks (and I certainly couldn't give twin defecations what the collective consciousness of horrid places like Reddit think). I stand by my opinion, but I'll certainly check out this documentary (it's now on my list).
In response to some of your other original points, I don't think Oppenheimer glosses over how frightening nuclear war is at all. Quite the reverse. That scene with Einstein near the end will haunt me for the rest of my life (and that's despite the fact that I've seen The War Game and Threads, so I can assure you I've seen some pretty disturbing depictions of what nuclear war would mean).
I don't view the female characters as "dumbass" in this at all, but again I think we've covered that. We'll have to agree to disagree.
Also, I don't consider this film racist. For me a racist film is something like The Birth of a Nation. But again, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that. The Green Mile didn't win any Oscars, by the way (though it was nominated). Or did you mean Green Book? I agree both Green Book and Crash weren't worthy Best Picture winners.
Thank you for a robust discussion. I enjoy healthy disagreement, and I'll certainly let you know what I think of this documentary once I've watched it. Glad we at least agree on Grave of the Fireflies. Enough to make a paving slab weep. :)
