Well, I always thought Cromwell was a miserable bastard, not to mention a hypocrite. He had no problem enjoy booze, theatre, women with make-up, etc, whilst his puritanical loony followers went about proclaiming, in essence, that everything fun was wrong. No wonder we wanted the monarchy back. So yes - despising Cromwell is one thing I have in common with the Irish. :)
