Well, I love The Smiths, but the choice of using them here just seemed random, self-consciously hip (perhaps that's the point in terms of the protagonist's persona), and irritating in terms of how you don't really get to hear any of the tracks properly, just tiny snippets. Again, done on purpose, but I just found it annoying.
