Well, it's a matter of personal taste, obviously. But I think a film needs to be paced appropriately and be as long as it needs to be. Melancholy western The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Ford was dismissed by many as long, slow, and boring. Long and slow? Yes. Boring? Hell, no. My favourite film of that year. I love it.
