Well... Yes. But at the same time, you know the outcome of the story already, so this is more focussed on the details of what was left out. But if you want to be surprised by things like Tom Bombadil, the Barrow Wights, the Scouring of the Shire, and so forth, then yes, perhaps don't read the article after all.
