When I was 9, a girl in my year told me that once I was 18, I wouldn't like Star Wars anymore.

I used to think that one day I would outgrow video games and Dungeons & Dragons and, even, Star Wars. That one day I’d put off the things of childhood and become a proper adult, serious and concerned with things like stock prices and meticulously maintaining my lawn. But the older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve realized that adult things are a kind of death. It is the things I’ve carried since childhood that are the most me, and every time I return to them, I rediscover myself.

When I was 9, a girl in my year told me that once I was 18, I wouldn't like Star Wars anymore. I'd be much more concerned with grown-up things. I'm now 28 years past 18 and still waiting for when I won't like Star Wars anymore.
