Yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean the film contains nothing for viewers that don't share that faith. I'd argue the film is as much about grief and about subconscious parental fears (especially concerning the onset of puberty) as much as anything. And also about Regan's unhappiness at her father's absence (this is a key factor, often overlooked). There's a lot more going on beneath the surface.
