Yes. However, sometimes holding the door open is a hilariously passive-aggressive thing you can do to British people, because if they are still a way off, they'll feel obliged to rush forward and pass through the door (saying thank-you, naturally) so you aren't kept waiting. It's a hilarious, amusingly cruel prank which, as I said, works exceptionally well with British victims. :)
