Yes, I found that bit slightly distracting too.

…have for one another which is quite abruptly torn. These scenes do lack in subtlety, with painfully obvious visual metaphors including a literal fork in the road (or pathway, if we’re being more literal), but the performances and the sincerity of the script help it to remain interesting.
