Yes, I must admit I raised eyebrows at the idea of Amy not having heard the Shangri-Las. But I slightly defend the "jolly working class family" scene you mention, purely because cliche or not, it rang true in this context. Also, and perhaps more importantly, it emphasised Amy's Jewish roots (with the Hebrew singing, etc). :)
