You Only Live Twice has the best ever baddies base, I think, just for sheer lunacy alone. Hollowing out an active volcano? How could this possibly have been done without the locals noticing? The sheer amount of dirt and rock they'd have had to remove, not to mention adding the new metal fake crater, bringing in all the helicopters, spacecraft, launching gear, monorail, computers, furniture, guns, boiler suits, and other equipment, and all the other raw materials for doors, walls, etc... Absolutely insane. It would have cost an unimaginable amount. And to what end? Provoke a full-blown nuclear war with Russia and America? What did SPECTRE want to rule, exactly? Radioactive cinders? It's a strong candidate for the most bonkers Bond villain plot of all time. But I still love the film. :)
