Your father (and you) have great taste. :) As for John Wayne, I like many of his films (especially Stagecoach, The Quiet Man, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and The Searchers) but he was, to use a horrible modern expression, "on the wrong side of history" re: McCarthyism. :)
