I’ve started my own film review publication.

I’ve decided to publish the film reviews featured on Simon Dillon Books in their own publication here on Medium, entitled Simon Dillon Cinema. Those of you who enjoy my film articles and features will hopefully enjoy my film reviews too. They typically aren’t very long, though there will be some exceptions. I try to keep things fairly spoiler free, but they are hopefully a useful indication of whether you should splash out on seeing the film at the cinema.

Which brings me to my second point: Simon Dillon Cinema will only feature reviews of films I see on the big screen. No streaming. No DVDs or Blu Ray. No TV. I am a dyed in the wool, old-school cineaste. The big screen is the best place to see a film. That is a hill I will die on. And no, I don’t believe a home cinema set-up is as good as the real thing either.

If you take a look at the publication now, you’ll see I have six reviews already up, for Those Who Wish Me Dead, Judas and the Black Messiah, Nomadland, Godzilla vs Kong, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and A Quiet Place Part II. Expect another one to two reviews added per week, on average. Within the next few days, you’ll have my thoughts on Cruella and The Father. Please bear in mind I am in the UK, so release dates may differ a little from elsewhere, but I do aim to get to major new releases as soon as I can. I don’t go and see everything, but I do see quite a bit.

Please feel free to follow and add your comments. All lively discussion and debate welcome. By all means leap in and tell me where you disagree.

In short, I hope you enjoy Simon Dillon Cinema.
